Fragmentation: So What?

Apparently the boss of the ABC-TV has been lunching heavily with the head of Nine, because he's now joining the cautious whining about audience fragmentation, according to an article in the Sydney Morning Herald.

Unsurprisingly, the head of Austar & Foxtel's sales unit (the partially government owned providers of cable and satellite television) is gloating.

What I find interesting and a bit depressing amongst all the moaning is that no one is talking about improving the quality of their programming.

It seems that the heads don't seem to remember that a good show (as subjective as the word "good" is) will draw from all audiences.

i think the argument is that young lesbian race car drivers from guatemala won't have enough time for "generic tv show" after they're done watching that new reality programme called "young lesbian race car drivers from guatemala" on the latest satellite network.
