considering that she was born and raised in japan (like her own mother), i think it's more appropriate to call crystal kay a black japanese singer instead of a black korean signer. in my opinion, phrases like "third-generation zainichi (person of korean descent born in japan)" -- which is used on the wikipedia page -- are just ridiculous, even if they accurately reflect the social reality of a place like japan. in my book, if you're born somewhere and spend a large chunk of your childhood there, then you are *from* there, even if the rest of that society continues to view you as an outsider.

i like your solution: "singer of black and korean heritage... from japan." it's clear and accurate, without any cultural bias to it.
when you make changes to your blog, don't you use the "strikethrough" font to show what words you've deleted (together with bold or colored text to show the words you've subsequently added)? many bloggers take that approach and i think it's a good practice since it allows future readers to see the before and after (ensuring that they won't be confused by the comment thread above). but perhaps blogspot doesn't give you that option?
