Sell Those Photos, Tsuyoshi

Japan Zone throws some interesting numbers around about how much Tsuyoshi Kusanagi's late night "let's get crunk" all-nude review is going to cost in terms of lost revenue.

As of Thursday night:

¥50 million = US $513, 985 (approx.) The cost of getting Tsuyoshi alone to promote your product. Also the cost of a SMAP music tie-in.

¥120 million = US $1.234 million (approx.) The cost of getting all of SMAP to promote your product.

¥420 million = US $4.316 million (approx.) The estimate of how much Johnny's will lose with Tsuyoshi going into media exile. (Not including promotional materials.)

¥500 million = US $5.136million (approx.) The estimate of how much Johnny's will lose with Tsuyoshi going into media exile. (Including promotional materials.)

¥5 billion = US$51.36 million (approx.) The estimate of how much Johnny's will have to pay all those companies who wanted to use Tsuyoshi and SMAP.

Yet, I reckon that ¥5 billion could possibly be recouped by the first magazine that gets Tsuyoshi's inevitable mea culpa interview, add on a possible extra ¥100 million if he makes a real serious "confession" during it. (Ex.: "I was secretly in love with Shingo Katori, but he didn't feel the same way.")

and despite all the money lost (or, more accurately, never to be earned), the world will not come to an end because tsuyoshi kusanagi went on a naked druken spree.
