Greetings from GOP New York

I just finished Simon Winchester's Outposts, and found the chapter on Bermuda struck several parallels with modern day New York since Giuliani, feel free to weigh in:

"Bermuda then gave me the feeling that it was a sort of Disneyland, and that the shootings [of the Governor and ADC] were the local equivalent of a tourist having a heart-attack inside the plastic Matterhorn -- smiling young men with shrouds would clear everything up within seconds and hustle the cadaver away through a back door, and then the whirligigs would start up again and the crowds would re-form, like waters briefly parted, and the music would start, and the smiling young men would resume their cries of 'Have a nice day!' and all would seem well once more."

Oh dear...yes, that sounds like NY now. Hm... this is perhaps not a good thing.
