There's A Little Bit Something Strange About "Change"

Mr. Nice last night told the country that he is the true candidate of change.

This made me think: If he's a member of the party in power, and the party that up until 2006 pretty much ruled everything with an iron fist, then he's arguing for a change much like a cadre of the Chinese Communist Party would say that he or she is for change.

Just a bit ironic in my view.

he's definitely in a tough spot. he has to tell the republican base that he's a lot like bush (only better). and at the same time, he has to tell everyone else that he's somehow very different from bush, who is deeply unpopular. i actually think his "maverick" shtick is the best possible solution to the dilemma he faces. of course, i don't believe anything he says any more... but that's the risk he runs by trying to appeal to bush lovers and bush haters at the same time.
