California's Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Protection Act passed last night by one vote. In case the title seems like it's anti-gay marriage, rest assured that it is most definitely not. The bill is designed along the lines of Canada's same-sex marriage laws, wherein local clerks are required to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, but allows those who are opposed (read: small-minded and not challenged by intellect) to gay marriage, to refuse to perform the ceremony.
Schwartzenegger, who probably owes his career to muscle-worshipping gay men, has not said whether he will sign the bill or not.
Update: The steroids have gone to his head. Schwartzenegger says that he's going to veto it "out of respect for the will of the people." Apparently, we aren't people in his eyes.

Any respect I had for Arnold has gone out the window. I honestly thought he was better than this. Shame on me for thinking...hoping...there was integrity in the man.
